I'm going to Thailand for one year !!!

It's been couple of days since I got to know that I'm gonna be going to Thailand :) and working there for one year !!! Another dream comes true for me :)

Wednesday was a different experience for me waiting around at home knowing that I'm soon gonna hear from Thailand with the results of the selection and then finally Rob contacting me on MSN to break the news ( he didnt just tell me...I was about to strangle him if he was gonna beat around the bush anymore :P) and then screaming to my family downstairs that "I'm going to Thailand!!!". They were pretty happy for me also I think the fact that it was Thailand and not Ghana made it more enjoyable for them :D ...

I think everybody knows where Thailand is unlike when I was interested in Ghana and nobody knew where on earth it is !! Anyway I decided to include a map to the post for those who are geographically impaired.

For those of you who didn't know of it already...I was born in Thailand :) to Sri Lankan parents when they were there back in the early eighties for my fathers Masters. But I had been there only few months so I'm basically ignorant of everything Thai and still have a full dose of culture to explore when I get there.

Now the important thing is to decide on my date of departure, and that might require a few round of discussions with several people before I can make a final call :) then follows the usual visa, tickets and packing for the trip but what I'm not sure if I'm ready is for the big round of BYE BYE's I've got to make since going away for one year means that I cant just do it over a phone call...

I've already got some people to visit me while I'm there ... starting from my father who will come in to Thailand for a workshop in the middle of June. If you also wanna visit me and Thailand from June onwards contact me and get yourself name on my " I will visit Suchith in Thailand in xxx " list...

I'm so excited !!!
