A relaxing Saturday ...
Hey you know what I finally ended up making last Saturday relaxing day...
I only got up around 12:30pm and then found a hand written note from Madhu on the laptop that we'll set off for the day from the office at 1:30pm...by the time we got to excel world I was soo hungry having not had any breakfast or lunch, so gobbled up a vege submarine.
Bowling was amazig fun !!! But that was my poorest score out of the three times I've actually been bowling. Everybody had major fun especially the 10min Kasun walked around with a baloon hagging from his butt and he was totally clueless about it.
Everybody was up for somethig more so finally I remembered having seen a banner about a travel mart at BMICH and we decided to head there. We walked in to find a Korea Day instead and enjoyed a wonderful fight show and a trasitional drum and dance show. It's only later we got to know that the Travel Mart was at the other building but we never went around there.
Afterwards we grabed our dinner headed to the trainee house and was chit chatting for a while. Later around 11:30pm was the next thing for the day "Air Port Pickup"!!!. So off we went ( Shek, Cherie, Buddi, Madhushanka and myself) to pick up Kazuto from Japan and bring him back to the trainee house. It was around 3a.m. that all the adventure came to an end when I finally got to bed..
THAT WAS FUN!!!

A typical day for me of late
A typical day of late...
8:00am - Wake up ( having slept very very late)
8:30am - Check and reply to mails, make phone calls to scheduel meetings, etc.
11:30am - Meeting with "I Believe in Sri Lanka" Project Team ( 1.5 hours)
01:30pm - Company Meeting with Wild Drift
3:00pm - Training Session for Colombo Uni Students (2 hours)
6:00pm - Meeting with Student from Japura Uni interested in coordinating Prefects Day
6:30pm - Meeting with Isuru ( CNLC VPICX) on preparation for Company meeting
Then it's once more time to be on the laptop working on Proposals, Seding out e-mails, Putting together Meeting outputs and Making phone calls, etc. until very late.
To break the flow I'm also joining in for some fun activities like Air Port pickups, Visit to Childrens homes, Bowling, et. Guess what I'm also planning into move into my new accomodation next week...it's gonna be interesting being the only Sri Lankan among 12 people from 10 countries.
LIFE IS GOOD!!!
This week we had a intern from Hong Kong ( her name is Leonie ) coming down and I am so happy to have a South East Asian heading this way for a change. ;) I was there for her pick up and was also going with her to a presentation at Moratuwa uni. Time we were talking I found out that she infact is a Muslim though not into practicing religion very much.
This seems a growing trend in the east Asia ( especially Japan ) with many young people saying that they do not follow a religion. What's up with this? the western world is more and more turnng towards spirutuality and innerself but the Asian youth is trying to ignore this...is the world evolving in circles nowadays ?

Sasha Number ONE !!!
Since I missed out on one of teammates on the pic in the last posting thought to include her on this one. Shasha or Alexadra Sosnovskaya will be the Director External Relations in my team for this year. She's was earlier part of the National Committee of AIESEC in RuBeK ( Russia, Belarus and Kazakastan ).
We are really excited about her arrival as she's gonna be joining us on the 22nd of this month ( only 11 days to go !!). I'm even more excited about working with her closely for a whole year, I'm sure that both of us will learn from each other a lot and for sure encounter many cultural differences to experience and understand. :)
It's gonna be fun with at the AIESEC office when Sasha, Punyama, myself as fulltimers and Damitha, Sahan and Tharanga as Parttimers start working together. ;)
I'm right now thinking what can I ask Sasha to bring for me from Russia as I love to collect small things from different countries. Any suggestions ???
The picture below is her with a copy of her Thesis for Graduate Diploma in hand.

Strating work as President of AIESEC in Sri Lanka
This is the end of my first week in my two most recent roles first as thePresident of AIESEC in Sri Lanka and then as the Asia Pacific Growth Network Chair. People have been asking me how it has been so far and I've been telling them really exciting and enjoyable though hectic. :) I really think this years gonna be full of amazing experiences for AIESEC and myself.
May be you are thinking ok this must be the initial excitement that the guy is going through. Well I woudn't say that there is nothing to do with that but for sure its a lot more than that. This is my fourth Leadership position in AIESEC and there's not been something better than this. Can you imagine you landing your dream job, one that you really love and makes getting up for work in the morning and facing the day an excitement, a facination... these days I feel that I have.
The other day I was at the CIMA Business Leaders Summit with huge participation from the Sri Lankan corporate sector and all these people were talking about Job Satisfaction etc. that their best does not come out cuase they are not enjoying their work...they are not following their dreams. I was feeling like standing up and shouting I have my dream job right now !!!
Today I was visiting my old Uni and met up with some of my friends from there. I had no regret over the decesions I made for sure. I believe I'm heading in the right path and my effort and experiences gained would help me to achieve my dreams. I'm taking it step by step experience by experience but upto now what can I say ... I'm in Love !!!

Suchith at the CIMA Business Leaders' Summit 2006
Unleashing Potential ... a common theme for two days worth of investigations at the CIMA Business Leaders Summit this year. I was given the amazing opportunity to be part of this event and to represent AIESEC there through the financial sponsorship given by Dommy an Alumni who has kept on inspring me and you for the past few years.
Being in the business of 'Unleashing Potential' or in other words heading the Sri Lankan office of the "International platform for young people to discover and develop their potential so as to make a postive imact on society" - AIESEC the connection and relavance to what was being discussed was amazing !!!
There was a good panel of speakers for sessions held and the audience was made up of lots of CEOs, Directors, etc. from the corporate sector. The turn out was big with lots of people fom the Sri Lankan corporate sector. Mr. Shiv Kehra the author of the famous book 'You Can Win!' was the most prominent of the people involved in delivering their understanding on things connected to the theme.
I personally got the chance to speak to the CEO of Maliban on possibility of cooperation in future and to the Managing Director of Jetwing Group agreed on meeting up for us to present ourselves as he was more than ready to support. Other than direct approaches I also identifies many resource personnel for AIESEC and myself to work with in futurre.
I'm going to be preparing a learing log on my participation so I'm not gonna mention much about what was being discusses during the conference...
Inspired !!!

Taking it On!!!
The 31st May was the 'take over' for us when one Leadership Team completes their term and a new team takes over those responsibilities. The cooolest thing for me was that I was part of the outgoing team and also leading the incoming team.
Yeah, from the 1st June onwards 1 year duration I took on the role of President of AIESEC in Sri Lanka. For me it was exactly the right thing to do as I had lot more to give to AIESEC and lot more to learn. As the famous saying goes I've decided not to keep to the paths in life but to wonder where there is no path and to leave a trail behind. This would definitely be a big challange but one that I am definitely coming up on top of. :)
To lead a organisation of youg people, young people with ambition to create a better future for themselves as well as for society is a 'DREAM JOB' for me. There is so much passion within the people that join in to AIESEC and my role is to help each person to covert that passion in to action to results.
The amazing opportunity to network is something very powerful with the President's role. Already I'm involving with more and more organizations making the people network bigger for AIESEC as well as my self. If you were to look at what I've been up to the last month or so you will get a glimpse of how amazing my life is going to be in the year ahead.
What can I say 2005/2006 here I come and I'm definitely more than ready for it !!!
